A public meeting will be held to announce the findings of an environmental study done on the abandoned smelter property on Warden Avenue.
The Ministry of the Environment completed an environmental site assessment examining current environmental conditions and remedial options for the Thane aluminum smelter property.
As part of the release of these findings, the ministry is hosting the public meeting Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Georgina Ice Palace.
Ministry staff will deliver a presentation and be available to discuss the report and answer questions.
Information will also be available to interested community members regarding the creation of a liaison committee who will consult on remedial and redevelopment plans for the property.
