Frustrated in Richmond Hill

I thought I'd take this time to rant a bit - hope it's ok.... Just this morning, I was reading the local paper here in Richmond Hill and reading the articles of one of my heroes, David Suzuki, writing about the tar sands in Alberta. Although I had read all that stuff before (I'm a member of Council of Canadians, and it's one of their rants), I was pleased that now "it's officially mainstream here in Richmond Hill". The thing is, nothing, absolutely nothing, is being done. In fact, we re-elected Harper and he's all for it. So the point is, I wonder what I can do, other than voicing my concern to my MP. Well, he's Liberal, so will it help? No. Will writing it on a blog help? No. Will writing policy for the Green Party help? No. So tell me, Bruce, what do you think would help? Should I just give up feeling frustrated and continue on with my nice, middle class life and say what most other people say, which is "to hell with it, I can't do anything anyway". Thanks for "listening". Wish you a happy xmas.

I think we all share your frustration with the pace of change. I look backward and I see progress faster than I ever would have thought possible. It is when we look ahead that the challenge appears too big to achieve. "Be the change you want to see in the world" is a call to action. If we all change our own actions the world will change.
